Decompression Therapy
Decompression therapy literally means to alleviate pressure. When the spine in the neck or low back is under compression for too long, this pressure can result in the tissues changing their shape abnormally creating pain, early degeneration and arthritis.
Decompression is used at Hanson Chiropractic very specifically. Once it is determined that you are candidate for decompression therapy via orthopedic, neurological, and imaging tests, we judiciously and gently begin the therapy. Our specialized mechanical table allows us to focus on the area of the spine that has the degenerative and compressive damage allowing the decompression traction to alleviate the abnormal pressure.
Relieve the pressure, relieve the pain!
Many patients experience relief using decompression traction after only a few treatments and the long term benefits can be remarkable in increased range of motion, decreased pain and improved spinal structure and function. Decompression traction can be used to relieve nerve compression and impingement due to disc herniation or bone spurs, to improve joint motion of the spinal joints, to lessen muscle spasm caused by injury, or to decompress arthritic joints due to degenerative disc disease or osteoarthritis.
Just like all the other therapies at Hanson Chiropractic, decompression traction therapy is not “one size fits all”. Not everyone is a candidate and only after the doctors authorize the treatment will a patient be allowed to undergo decompression traction therapy. Many of our patients report they feel better following the treatment and often report long-term improvements in their conditions.
